Shit that I feel I need to express about North...
And unfortunately, I feel alone on this. I find it hilariously awful how the U.S., a country that has used nukes, has a weak army, and invades and occupies other countries based on false premises, feels entitled to point its finger at other countries who has never used nukes, has a strong army, but hasn’t invaded or occupied, and calls that country “dangerous and unpredictable”....

Important euphemisms, you guys!
We’ve all heard the “Kristen Stewart can’t come out before Twilight is finished because it would distort her for-Edward’s-penis-only billion dollar persona” argument. Then this past week, Kristen appeared on Oprah with the rest of Twilight’s main cast. Here is part of the transcript. KRISTEN STEWART: I get so nervous, and… OPRAH WINFREY (HOST): Okay, let me...

RA Sushi's response to the offended. I feel all...
In early April, RA Sushi began a sweet promotion: perpetuate an Asian stereotype that was conveniently packaged into a catchphrase by Stanley Kubrick, and get a free side order of edamame. The idea was so popular that it spread to Chicago! God Bless America.   (full article) Yesterday RA Sushi posted an “apology” on their Facebook page: Are you fucking kidding me? This is worse than...

"...the Myth of Land Discovery."
Quoted from Racialious… This ad seems to encapsulate two of the ways that North America cleanses the story of its origin, refusing to acknowledge that our nations are founded on genocide. The first: calling the Europeans’ arrival in the Americas “Discovery,” rather than Colonisation or Genocide. You can only call their arrival “discovery” if there weren’t any humans here who had already...

Unhappy cute indie boy musicians.
They and their photoshoots all look like this now. Elements are arranged in ascending order, from first noticed to last noticed. - bokeh - none are smiling, not even with their eyes - yet they still appear so content about themselves - moderate desaturation - it is autumn - the blazer guy - the cardigan-over-dress-shirt guy - the vintage eye frames guy (a.k.a. blazer guy) - the kinda ugly guy...

Must be capable of preparing a turkey dinner.
I’ve been reading @phronk’s Horrors of Internet Dating for a couple of months now. I expected the posts to make me a more cautious and attentive OKCupid lurker. Unfortunately, OKCupid is one of the less creepy dating sites, and so I never bothered to go on lookout-mode for golden awfulnesses that would be worthy of a blog entry. These two I’m about to show you just sort of...

Eyjafjallajokull.
It strikes me as odd that among all the natural disasters that have happened in the last year, this one was turned into an aesthetic spectacle. If this volcano had indirectly caused even one death, the trendily shot image above wouldn’t exist. Photo via …

(2:04:29 AM) jeremy: in my mind there should be tall handsome asian men with big packages repairing our reputation (2:04:57 AM) wendy: maybe our kid will look like that (2:05:09 AM) wendy: my uncles are tall, and I probably carry a recessive tall male gene (2:05:40 AM) jeremy: my parents are not tall but i have relatives who are (2:05:60 AM) jeremy: not over 6 feet but 5’10”...

Because you, YOU, deserve one!
While I was doing research for a cosmology project, this disgusting side ad decided to show up in my life. If anyone’s ever wondered why I react reluctantly to 95% of men who hit on me, this here is why.

MINORITIES ARE FUNNY. So are...
Hot for Teachers w/ Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green from Megan Fox This is an activist Funny or Die video where a gag happens an average of every 4 seconds. They all culminate into a protest against education budget cuts in California. Why is this video the subject of my rant? Because at 1:09, a young Korean girl starts protesting to Megan in Korean. Because Asian kids are stupid enough to...

Parents vs. parents.
According to these popular search results suggested by Google, white parents are fixated on saving devastated black kids, while Asian parents are really good at making their kids scour the internet for parenting failures and comparison charts. So logically, if a white person and Asian person married, they would adopt a Haitian baby and drive him or her towards anxiolytics.

First World Problems.
These are pretty straight-forward. But just to make sure no one takes receives them in the wrong context, I’ll briefly describe my objective here: to underscore the absurdity of first world complaints (all directly quoted from the web) when they are placed in the same field as real problems. Note: I’m not trying to climb on a high horse or anything, as I complain unnecessarily all the...

That umbrella you've been wanting for 6-7 years.
I noticed something funny in the movie Lost In Translation. No, no, not its hilarious Japanese stereotypes. I’m talking about Scarlett’s clear, colourless umbrella — one that, after seeing the movie 6 years ago, sparked my desire (and the desire of probably millions of other viewers) to own one too. “Who’s that chick with the honey-coloured hair, holding the...

Count on me to dedicate an entire page to art that...
This entry is a repost from my regular Tumblr. I’ve been noticing some predominant indie trends for a while, most of them really predictable by now. But that doesn’t translate into “all bad.” I don’t mind graphic design like this: Nor do I mind interior design and decoration like this: But what I can no longer tolerate are these thematically fuzzy neo-Emo...
